I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month.

During this time of year we reflect on Christmas’ past and if we have been
through difficult times we do not remember the hardships as much as we
remember the wonder of how truly magical Christmas really is.
The times when there was not enough money to purchase gifts for your
children after the bills were paid, yet it was the time when your son saw you
crying, and told you that it never mattered about the gifts . He remembered
the Christmas’ that were magical to him and it had nothing to do with the
presents under the tree.
The times when you did not have enough money for the tree and magically or
not, there appeared one solitary tree standing outside the gas station where
before there had been none. Then driving home so happy that we would have
a tree only to find your daughter standing there grinning from ear to ear,
because her boyfriend had purchased a tree and they had both decorated it
waiting to surprise me.
The miracle and magic of Christmas brought us two trees when only hours
before we had none.
The time that we had no money for the turkey, and that same boyfriend and
his family brought the turkey and the entire family brought food, and we had
one of the most memorable Christmas’ and one I remember fondly as this
time of year reminds me of the hardships of others and how it is up to us to
make it a memorable Christmas for them
Family , friends and the true meaning of Christmas resonates always in my
heart.
It never ceases to amaze me how little I had , but how much I remember of all
the Christmas’ long ago and how much God had given me.
The true blessings were never in material possessions .
This is a time of year where there are many people who do not experience the
magic and miracles of Christmas.
The hardships of life overwhelm them and it becomes cloudy as to what they
have to celebrate about.
The news stories tell us of the tragedies, the empty shelves at community care,
and the children without presents under the tree.
The world presents us with hardships, but we can come together and be the
one hand that gives to another without question , without expecting anything
in return but a hug, smiling eyes, and a silent thank you that comes from one
heart and is received by another.
There will always be suffering, but there are always as many ways to alleviate
it as there are hardships.
It is a kind and wonderful gesture to extend your help to those in third world
countries.
This year I ask you to extend it to the single mother who sits beside you in
church or at work, and give her something that will show her kindness in
the harsh world she lives in most times.
Stop the person walking and look into their eyes, shake their hand or hug
them ,and and wish them a Merry Christmas.
Bake those cookies and instead of putting them in the freezer for a special
occasion , take them to someone who is alone this Christmas , or in a nursing
home and spend time reading to them or listening to their Christmas of the
past. Make them your special occasion.
Shovel the driveway of a neighbor for no reason but to say they are thought
of .
Write a letter to your aunt, uncle or anyone who has made an impact in your
life, and tell them how.
Cook a favorite dish for someone and take it to them and eat with them , help
them clean up and make plans to come again.
Knit a scarf, mittens, slippers or sweater as a gift for someone at Christmas
instead of a store bought gift. Enclose with it a letter of how you felt
something made by you felt more significant and why.
Listen to your child more, and stop when they ask you a question that seems
to always come at an inappropriate time in this busy world of schedules.
Take time with those people that have taken their time with you. Reciprocate
with that time throughout the year.
There are thousands of people suffering, hardships that overwhelm but the
miracle of Christmas is that there is good will toward men.
Take this time of year to do one thing for another person that requires your
presence , not your presents.
Merry Christmas.
